Summer break is here and that means the return of our beloved summer reading program. This year Storybook Adventures (previously March to Your Own Story) will feature 7 weeks of reading fun in historic downtown St. Cloud. Meet the author returns select Saturdays during the summer with costume contest at each event! If you attend all seven events you will be entered into our drawing for a pack of Wild Florida tickets.
This year we’ve partnered with the historic Hunter’s Arms hotel centrally located in our downtown to offer visiting families a discount on hotel rooms. Using code MAINSTREET you can stay for just $70 a night plus tax. Plan a weekend staycation in St. Cloud, Florida centered around family friendly activities. Saturday morning put on your costumed inspired around the book of the week and start your reading adventure throughout our downtown. Book pages are posted in shop windows along our downtown area with maps available online here or at the St. Cloud Main Street office to keep you on track during your adventure. Finish the last page at 10:30 am for the meet the author event! The first 20 families in attendance at this event will receive a free copy of the book. Costume contest voting will occur after the event so keep an eye out on your email for the results!
After the event, walk around our historic district and visit boutiques with a unique offering of items including antiques, handmade stained glass, children’s boutiques, trendy clothing stores, and more! Check in to your hotel room and relax in the cool rooms before heading out just past the city limits for a wild time at Wild Florida. Take your car through their drive thru safari to see antelopes, zebras, giraffes, and more! After your safari make sure to head over to their gator park where you can see animals up close and watch a live alligator feeding! If you’re up for the adventure, take an airboat tour out on the lake to find alligators, birds, and more out in their natural habitat. Sunday morning after check-out grab breakfast at one of our coffee shops and leisurely stroll through our downtown to see our historic murals that tell the story of St. Cloud’s past. Before you pack up for the journey home, head down to our lakefront park just a few blocks from our downtown district to let the kids run around and burn off some energy prior to the car ride home.
